Male Domestic Abuse increased during #CoronaVirus #Lockdown

Most men stay out of the house during the day time, but this lockdown has changed the scenario. Many men has been facilitated to work from home, they are busy with their office work, but during work time they are also involved in household chores such as washing dishes, cooking, child care and others.

Such trend of doing household chores during lockdown can be seen at social media, but media not able to grasp the change. As society is adopting modernization, the modern couples now believe in living a more friendly life than ever before. They beleive in spending good and memorable time, make their partner happy.

If we believe in nature’s principle then you cannot deny that “if there is happiness then there is sorrow, if there is good then there is bad”. So despite having so many good thoughts, there are some bad thoughts.

Despite having an understanding of the changing society, our law is centuries old which always considers women innocent and men as criminals. Due to this logic, India never focused towards the Domestic abuse with male and our lawmakers keep ignoring the facts.

Referring a Journal of “Indian Journal of Community Medicine” which says more than 52% men faces violence.

“52.4% of men experienced gender-based violence. Out of 1000, males 51.5% experienced violence at the hands of their wives/intimate partner at least once in their lifetime and 10.5% in the last 12 months. The most common spousal violence was emotional (51.6%) followed by physical violence (6%). Only in one-tenth cases, physical assaults were severe.”
